Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years of age or older (there is no upper age limit)
  • You have given your signed agreement to take part in the study
  • You are registered with the French social security system
  • You are able to attend all appointments and be followed for the full duration of the study

  • You have been experiencing chronic pain for at least six months, and the pain is at least moderate (rated 4 out of 10 or higher)

  • You are either not currently taking any pain medication, or your pain medication has been stable and unchanged for at least two weeks before joining the study
  • Your neurological examination (a check of your nervous system) is normal at the time of joining

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are currently involved in a legal case or seeking financial compensation related to your pain or injury
  • You have been diagnosed with cancer within the last two years
  • You have a known condition that can cause damage to small nerve fibres, such as diabetes, thyroid problems, heavy alcohol use, kidney failure, or certain inherited diseases
  • You have nerve damage confirmed by clinical assessment or a nerve conduction test (EMG)
  • You have a condition affecting your peripheral or central nervous system (for example, your brain, spinal cord, or nerves), with or without nerve pain
  • You have an uncontrolled long-term health condition, such as severe obesity, untreated sleep apnoea, or uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • You have a history of psychosis or a previous suicide attempt
  • You currently misuse drugs or mind-altering substances
  • You have cognitive (thinking/memory) or psychological difficulties that would make it hard to understand or follow the study requirements
  • You are currently taking part in another medical research study
