Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged between 18 and 65 years old
  • People who have been working night shifts for at least the past year
  • People who typically sleep between 5 and 9 hours within any 24-hour period
  • People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 20.0 and 35.0, whose weight has stayed within 5% of their current weight over the last 6 months
  • People who are not very physically active — meaning fewer than 2 planned exercise sessions per week

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have been diagnosed with a sleep disorder (such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or periodic limb movements during sleep) or an eating disorder (such as anorexia nervosa, or more than one food allergy)
  • People who have travelled across more than one time zone in the 3 weeks before the study
  • People who have followed a time-restricted eating or intermittent fasting plan at any point in the past year
  • People who have followed a special diet — such as paleo, keto, gluten-free, or vegan — in the last 6 months, as these may affect what the trial is measuring
  • People who have had a significant surgical procedure within the last year
  • People who have been diagnosed with diabetes or cardiovascular (heart) disease
  • Note: Night shift workers who experience tiredness or trouble sleeping are not automatically excluded — those symptoms alone are not disqualifying (confirm with trial site)
