Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Women between 18 and 75 years of age
  • People who have been diagnosed through a tissue/cell test (pathology) with breast cancer that has spread to the liver, and who are unable to have surgery or have chosen not to have surgery
  • People who have no more than 3 liver tumours, with each individual tumour measuring 4cm or smaller
  • People who have had at least 1 month pass since their last local treatment to the liver
  • People whose liver function falls within a certain range, known as Child-Pugh class A or B (confirm with trial site)
  • People who are well enough to carry out basic daily activities (rated on a standard scale), and whose life expectancy is greater than 3 months

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose liver function has declined to a severe level, known as Child-Pugh class C (confirm with trial site)
  • People whose cancer has spread widely throughout the body with a life expectancy of less than 3 months
  • People who have had bleeding from enlarged veins in the oesophagus or upper stomach within the past month
  • People who have serious problems with how one or more of their major organs are working
  • People who currently have an active infection
  • People who have blood clotting problems that cannot be corrected
  • People who have large amounts of fluid build-up in the abdomen or chest that has not responded to treatment, or who are in a state of severe physical decline (cachexia)
  • People who are pregnant, have altered consciousness, or are unable to cooperate with the treatment process
  • People who are currently still in the follow-up period of another clinical trial
  • People who the trial doctor considers unsuitable for any other reason that might affect their participation
