Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 40 and 70 years old (any sex) and have been diagnosed with coronary artery disease (a condition affecting the heart's blood supply), such as a heart attack, unstable chest pain, or significant blockages found during a heart artery scan, and you are entering a cardiac rehabilitation program at HUPE
- You are between 40 and 70 years old (any sex) and are in generally good health with no known heart artery disease (this applies to the healthy comparison group)
Who may not be able to join:
- You have been diagnosed with heart failure, a lung disease, Chagas disease, or tuberculosis
- You have been regularly exercising 3 or more days per week for at least 30 minutes per session over the past 6 months
- You are considered underweight, meaning your body mass index (BMI) is below 18.5 (confirm with trial site if unsure of your BMI)
- You are a current smoker
- You are considered obese, meaning your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or above (confirm with trial site if unsure of your BMI)
