- People who have at least one completely blocked coronary artery (a total blockage with no blood flow past the blockage) that has not yet been treated, where the blockage has been present for at least 3 months, and the affected blood vessel is large enough to be considered significant

- People who have a known allergy or serious sensitivity to aspirin, clopidogrel (a blood-thinning medication), or a related group of drugs called "-limus" agents, or who have a medical reason they cannot take blood-thinning medications
- People with severely reduced liver function (based on blood test results more than three times above the normal range)
- People with severely reduced kidney function (based on a kidney filtration measurement below a specific threshold) (confirm with trial site)
- People whose life expectancy is less than one year
- Women who are pregnant or who could potentially become pregnant
