Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older who work full-time (at least 30 hours per week)
- People experiencing shoulder problems related to their work, with symptoms severe enough to score at least 14 points on a standard shoulder disability questionnaire called the QuickDASH
- People whose shoulder condition has been diagnosed as one of the following: rotator cuff-related shoulder pain (a problem with the tendons around the shoulder joint), shoulder osteoarthritis (wear-and-tear of the shoulder joint), or rheumatoid arthritis affecting the shoulder
- People whose shoulder symptoms have been present for more than 6 weeks
- For rotator cuff-related shoulder pain: a diagnosis confirmed by at least three specific physical examination findings that a doctor or clinician would assess
- For shoulder osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis: a diagnosis confirmed by a physician, based on physical examination, imaging results, or recognised diagnostic criteria
Who may not be able to join:
- People with clinical signs of a large rotator cuff tear, such as being unable to lift the arm actively above 90 degrees while passive movement remains possible
- People with an acute (sudden/recent) traumatic rotator cuff tear, bone fractures, a frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis), or shoulder instability
- People with symptoms in the arm or hand related to nerve or blood vessel problems, such as thoracic outlet syndrome or blood clots in a vein
- People who have previously had shoulder surgery
- People who have received a cortisone (corticosteroid) injection in the shoulder within the past 3 months
- People with a painful condition of the small joint at the top of the shoulder (acromioclavicular joint)
- People currently receiving any physical or conservative treatment for their shoulder pain (note: medication for rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis is not excluded)
- People who are currently unable to work at least 30 hours per week or who are on sick leave
