Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are older than 21 years of age
  • People who are 50 years old or younger, regardless of whether they have cardiovascular risk factors (such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, or being a current smoker) at the time of their heart attack, OR people aged 51 to 60 years old who had no more than 2 of those risk factors (not counting diabetes) at the time of their heart attack
  • People who are able to give their informed consent to participate
  • People who are willing and able to attend study visits and follow the study procedures
  • People who have previously had a Type 1 heart attack, where imaging (via angiogram or CT scan) confirmed a significant blockage — at least 50% in the left main artery, or at least 70% in another major heart artery
  • People who identify as one of the three main racial groups in this study: Chinese, Malay, or Indian (self-identified)

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a known inherited condition causing very high cholesterol (familial hypercholesterolaemia), known blood vessel inflammation conditions (vasculitides), end-stage kidney disease, or a congenital heart condition present from birth
  • People who have a history of peripheral artery disease (poor circulation in the limbs) or stroke
  • People who are pregnant at the time of the study
  • People who are not of Asian background
