- People who have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) according to standard diagnostic guidelines (DSM-5-TR).
- People who still have ongoing depression symptoms, shown by a score above 7 on a standard depression rating scale called the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale.

- People who have serious, sudden, or poorly controlled long-term physical health conditions.
- People who have hormonal (endocrine) disorders, vitamin deficiencies, or who have been exposed to medications known to affect memory, thinking, or mood.
- People who misuse alcohol or use recreational drugs.
- People who cannot safely have an MRI or a brain stimulation procedure called TMS — for example, those with implanted medical devices, metal fragments or prostheses in the body, a history of brain surgery, or a history of epilepsy.
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
