Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are scheduled for a planned (non-emergency) surgery to remove part or all of your esophagus (the tube connecting your throat to your stomach)
- Your surgeon plans to use part of your stomach to rebuild the path food travels after surgery
- Your surgeon determines during the operation that you are able to receive either of the two procedures being studied
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to participate
- You are willing and able to attend follow-up appointments and complete surveys over a longer period of time
Who may not be able to join:
- You need emergency esophagus removal surgery (for example, due to a tear or rupture)
- You have a nerve or muscle condition that makes a certain injection (Botox) unsafe for you, such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, muscular dystrophy, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome
- You are having a specific type of esophagus surgery called a "Sweet esophagectomy," which involves a large portion of stomach removal (confirm with trial site)
- You are currently pregnant
- You have a known allergy or bad reaction to botulinum toxin (Botox)
- Your surgeon determines during the operation that it is not technically possible to perform both procedures being studied (for example, due to body size or shape making the surgery too difficult)

Gastroparesis Cardinal Symptom Index (GCSI) total score at 6 months postoperatively or prior to the first reintervention (which ever comes first)
