Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with one of the following conditions: systemic sclerosis (scleroderma), rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory muscle disease (including antisynthetase syndrome), mixed connective tissue disease, or Sjögren's disease, confirmed by standard medical criteria
- You have been diagnosed with interstitial lung disease (scarring or inflammation of the lungs), confirmed by a detailed CT scan, at least 1 year before joining the trial, and it is not caused by another illness or exposure
- You have been on a stable, unchanged treatment plan for your condition for at least 6 months before joining the trial
- You are able to understand and follow the trial instructions, including filling in questionnaires about how you feel and how your condition affects you
- You have access to the internet and are comfortable using a smartphone or similar device
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You have severe heart failure where your heart is pumping very poorly (ejection fraction below 30%)
- You have severe long-term kidney disease with very poor kidney function (eGFR below 30 mL/min)
- Your lung disease is at a very advanced stage, with lung function results below certain levels, or you also have another serious lung condition such as COPD or emphysema
- You have a significant blockage or narrowing in your airways, detected by breathing tests
- You have other serious lung problems that the trial doctor considers significant
- You have significant high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension) with evidence of right-sided heart failure, a very low heart output on specialist testing, or you require certain specific medications for this condition
- You are currently being treated for cancer, or you have a cancer that cannot be cured
- You have a medical reason that makes it unsafe for you to do certain breathing tests, as defined by international guidelines
- You are currently taking prednisolone (a steroid) at a dose of 20 mg per day or more
- You are unable to speak, read, and write in Norwegian, German, or Romanian (depending on which country the trial site is in)
- After training, you are unable to produce reliable breathing test results at home that match results taken in a clinic
- You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant
