Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are already enrolled in the Ndovu cohort study
- People who are able and willing to understand and follow the trial's requirements and instructions
- People who are able and willing to give their informed consent to take part in this nested trial (for those under 18, assent from the young person plus consent from a legal guardian is required)
- People aged 3 years or older
- People whose most recent HIV-1 viral load result was 200 copies/mL or higher

Who may not be able to join:
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who are taking other medications that are not permitted alongside the study drugs, based on the drugs' official safety and prescribing information
- People who have had a serious HIV-related illness (classified as WHO stage 3 or 4) within the 4 weeks before trial screening, if that illness would prevent them from being assigned to either treatment group — for example, due to drug interactions or significant liver or kidney damage
- People whose doctor believes they should stop taking DTG immediately for medical reasons
- People whose doctor believes they should not switch to the drug darunavir/ritonavir (DRV/r) for medical reasons
