Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 years or older
- People who have a confirmed HIV diagnosis
- People who have been on a stable HIV treatment plan, with the virus undetectable in their blood, for at least 12 months
- People whose LDL ("bad") cholesterol level is above 140 mg/dL
- People who currently follow a low level of Mediterranean-style eating, based on a specific diet scoring tool called MEDAS (confirm with trial site)
- People who are able to swallow tablets
- People who are willing and able to give their formal agreement to take part in the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently taking cholesterol-lowering medications
- People who regularly use anti-inflammatory medications
- People with an active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection
- People who have other long-term inflammatory conditions, such as autoimmune diseases
- People who have an inherited condition that causes very high cholesterol (familial hypercholesterolemia)
- People with poorly controlled conditions such as an underactive thyroid or diabetes
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with cognitive or psychological conditions that may make it difficult to follow the study requirements
- People who are unable to give their formal agreement to take part
