Who might be able to join this trial:
For the Dry Eye Syndrome group:
- People aged between 20 and 75 years
- People whose Schirmer's test result (a test that measures how much moisture the eye produces) shows less than 10 mm of fluid in 5 minutes, indicating low tear production
For the Sjögren's Syndrome group:
- People aged between 20 and 75 years
- People diagnosed with either primary or secondary Sjögren's syndrome
- People whose condition meets the 2002 American-European Consensus Criteria for Sjögren's syndrome (a recognised set of diagnostic standards)
- People whose immune system, liver, kidney, and blood function test results are all within normal ranges
Who may not be able to join:
For the Dry Eye Syndrome group:
- People who are pregnant
- People who currently have eye inflammation or an infectious eye disease
- People who have previously had eye surgery
For the Sjögren's Syndrome group:
- People with a history of alcohol abuse, diabetes, or a serious life-threatening medical condition
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have received steroid pulse therapy (a high-dose steroid treatment) within the three months before the trial begins
