Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 to 75 years, of any gender
  • People who have been diagnosed with rectal cancer that has spread to the liver (stage M1), confirmed by a pathology test
  • People whose general health and ability to carry out daily activities meets a minimum threshold score (called Karnofsky Performance Status of 70 or above)
  • People whose heart, liver, kidneys, and other organs are functioning well enough for the treatments involved

  • People with uncontrolled epilepsy, nervous system disorders, or certain psychiatric conditions that could affect their ability to consent or to take oral medication as required
  • People with significant or active heart problems, such as symptomatic coronary artery disease, moderate-to-severe heart failure, serious heart rhythm problems requiring medication, or a heart attack within the past 12 months
  • People who have received an organ transplant and require ongoing immunosuppressive medication, or people on long-term steroid treatment
  • People who have an autoimmune disease
  • People with severe infections or other serious health conditions that are not well controlled
  • People whose blood test results do not meet the required levels for red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, liver enzymes, kidney function, or protein levels (confirm specific values with trial site)
  • People known to have a deficiency of an enzyme called dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD), which affects how certain medications are processed by the body
  • People with a known allergy to any of the medications used in this trial
