  • Men and women between the ages of 22 and 85 who visited Seoul National University Hospital with suspected sleep apnea, based on symptoms such as snoring, pauses in breathing during sleep, or feeling excessively sleepy during the day.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have already been diagnosed with sleep apnea and are currently receiving treatment for it, such as a CPAP machine, breathing support devices, a dental mouth device, or surgery.
  • People who have a neuromuscular disease (a condition affecting the nerves and muscles) or who have a history of long-term opioid (strong painkiller) medication use.
  • People with severe insomnia that cannot be controlled with medication.
  • People who require supplemental (extra) oxygen due to conditions such as heart failure, chronic lung disease, scarring of the lungs, a breathing or ventilation disorder, or stroke — or whose resting blood oxygen level is below 90%.
  • People who have an implanted cardiac pacemaker, a defibrillator, or any other electronic device implanted in the body.
  • People who have little or no experience using smartphones, apps, or smartwatches.
  • Women who are pregnant.
  • People who are unable or unwilling to sign a written consent form agreeing to take part.
