Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are being treated with a combination of two specific types of immunotherapy drugs that target PD-L1 and CTLA-4
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who have been diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (a type of liver cancer) confirmed by laboratory tissue testing
- People whose liver cancer cannot be treated with surgery, tumour removal, or other local treatments directed at the liver
- People who have not previously received any systemic (whole-body) drug treatment for their liver cancer
- People whose liver is still functioning at an adequate level, based on a standard scoring system called Child-Pugh (score of B7 or lower)
- People who are generally able to carry out basic daily activities, based on a standard fitness scale (ECOG score of 2 or lower)
- People whose cancer can be measured using standard imaging criteria
- People who weigh more than 30 kg
- Women who could become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test and agree to use reliable contraception during the trial
- People who have hepatitis B or hepatitis C must have it managed according to their treatment centre's standard practice
- People who have given written consent before any trial procedures begin
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had a stroke, heart attack, or a blood vessel blockage event within the 3 months before joining the trial
- People with severe or unstable chest pain, or significant heart failure (classified as NYHA Class III or IV)
- People who have a cardiac pacemaker or implanted defibrillator (ICD)
- People who have large metal implants in the area of the body being treated
- People with known problems with blood clotting or uncontrolled bleeding
- People whose liver cancer is a specific less common type, including fibrolamellar HCC, sarcomatoid HCC, or a mixed liver and bile duct cancer
- People whose liver function has deteriorated to a more serious level (Child-Pugh score of B8 or higher)
- People who are currently on a waiting list for a liver transplant
- People with autoimmune conditions or a history of organ transplant who need medication to suppress their immune system
- People with autoimmune or inflammatory conditions that are not currently under control
- People who are unable to lie flat on their back, for example due to pain
- People with significantly impaired mental status
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
