Who may be able to join

  • People aged 50 to 90 years old, of any gender.
  • People who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease according to the 2011 NIA-AA clinical diagnostic criteria.
  • People whose score on a standard memory and thinking test (called the MMSE) falls between 12 and 26.

Who may not be able to join

  • People who are currently taking blood-thinning (anticoagulant) medications.
  • People who have had a seizure or a bleeding stroke within the past 12 months.
  • People who are sensitive or allergic to sunlight or visible light, or who have highly sensitive skin on the head and neck.
  • People who have had a severe head injury or have implants in the head such as bone screws, bone plates, or have had tissue surgically removed in that area.
  • People who have or have had a malignant (cancerous) tumour.
  • People who have another medical condition that is not stable or well-controlled, such as serious heart, lung, digestive, or kidney disease, or any condition that the trial doctor believes could affect safety or interfere with results.
  • People with an addiction to alcohol or drugs.
  • Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.
  • People who have taken part in another clinical trial within the one month before joining this study.
  • People who the trial doctor considers unsuitable for participation for any other reason.
