Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) within the last 6 months and are not currently taking biologic (advanced injection or infusion) RA medications, though you may be taking one or more standard RA pills such as hydroxychloroquine, methotrexate, sulfasalazine, leflunomide, or azathioprine.
- Your blood tests show certain markers linked to RA (rheumatoid factor or anti-CCP antibodies), or your X-rays show joint damage typical of RA.
- You have been diagnosed with RA based on recognised international guidelines (confirm with trial site).
- Your RA is currently active — meaning it is not fully under control or in remission based on a standard disease activity score.
- You have been on stable doses of all your RA and heart/cardiovascular medications for at least 1 month (except for steroid medications).
Who may not be able to join:
- You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study period.
- You are currently taking insulin injections.
- You have another type of joint or muscle disease, or certain other specific medical conditions affecting the joints or metabolism (confirm with trial site for the full list).
- You currently have cancer, other than certain very minor skin cancers treated with simple procedures.
- You have a serious heart or circulation condition that would make exercise testing unsafe, such as unstable chest pain, uncontrolled heart rhythm problems, active heart infection, severe heart valve problems, heart failure, a recent blood clot in the lungs or legs, heart muscle inflammation, or a physical disability preventing safe exercise testing.
- You have certain heart or circulation conditions that may make exercise testing risky, such as significant blockages in heart arteries, uncontrolled fast heart rate, recent stroke or mini-stroke, a heart muscle condition causing obstruction, or other uncontrolled health problems like very high blood pressure, severe anaemia, or an overactive thyroid (confirm with trial site).
- You had a heart attack within the last 6 months.
- Your resting blood pressure is very high (at or above 180/110 mmHg).
- You do not have access to the internet.
