Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have served in the military as a veteran
- People who are living with HIV
- People whose HIV treatment uses a specific type of medication called an integrase strand transfer inhibitor, taken for at least 3 months
- People whose HIV viral load is undetectable (less than 50 copies/ml — meaning the virus is well controlled)
- People aged 20 years or older
- People with a body mass index (BMI) between 28 and 50 kg/m²

- People who have ongoing inflammatory conditions or who regularly use corticosteroid medications
- People with stage 3 or more advanced kidney disease
- People who are taking dietary or herbal supplements known to affect body weight, muscle mass, or immune function
- People who are unable to have an MRI scan for any reason
- People who are unable to complete physical fitness tests due to physical or anatomical limitations
- People for whom an exercise stress test (called a CPET) would be unsafe — for example, due to exercise-induced heart problems or a need for supplemental oxygen
