Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are living with HIV
- People who were assigned female sex at birth
- People who are between 40 and 60 years old
- People who are in the late stage of perimenopause (the transition leading up to menopause) or in the early stage of postmenopause (shortly after periods have stopped)
- People who are experiencing hot flashes and/or night sweats
- People who are willing and able to fill in a short diary every day
- People who have been taking HIV medication for more than 1 year
- People who are not pregnant and are willing and able to use at least a non-hormonal form of birth control during the trial
- People who are willing and able to give their formal agreement to participate after talking it through with the research team
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a medical condition that would make hormone therapy unsafe for them
- People who are currently taking any medication specifically to treat hot flashes
- People who are taking medications that cannot safely be combined with hormone therapy
