Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have already started taking oral PrEP (a medication taken to reduce the risk of HIV infection), whether on a daily schedule or an event-based schedule, have picked up the medication at least once, and have taken at least one pill.
- People who do not have HIV at the time of joining the study.
- People aged 16 years or older who meet the Spanish medical guidelines for PrEP use, which include the following groups:
- Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men, and transgender women, who had at least two of the following in the past year: more than 10 sexual partners; anal sex without a condom; use of drugs during sex (chemsex); previous use of post-exposure prevention medication (PEP); or at least one sexually transmitted infection (STI).
- Women who do sex work and report not regularly using condoms.
- Cisgender men or women who have sex without condoms and also meet at least two of the same criteria listed above for the first group.
- People who inject drugs and do so in ways that carry a higher risk of infection (such as sharing needles or other equipment).
