Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People with end-stage kidney failure who are currently on peritoneal dialysis (a type of home dialysis that uses the abdomen) with a working dialysis catheter

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with poorly controlled diabetes, shown by a blood sugar average (HbA1c) test result above 9%
  • People who have had one or more peritonitis infections (infection inside the abdomen) in the last 6 months, or who currently have an infection around their dialysis catheter
  • People with low red blood cell levels (anaemia), where haemoglobin is below 8g/dL
  • People who are not able to provide written consent or follow the study's instructions
  • People who experience urinary incontinence (inability to control bladder)
  • People who weigh less than 60kg
  • People who have a gut or bowel condition that causes ongoing diarrhoea, or who are expected to lose significant sodium through their stools
  • People who have taken the heart medication amiodarone in the last 6 months, as it can interfere with one of the study's tests
