Who may be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 or older
  • People who have coronary artery (heart) disease and have previously had a heart attack
  • People whose heart's pumping strength (called ejection fraction) is at least 20%, confirmed by an ultrasound of the heart done within the past 90 days
  • People who have had a specific type of abnormal heart rhythm called sustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia (VT), with at least one of these: two or more recorded episodes (for people who already have an implanted heart device called an ICD), or at least one recorded episode (for people without an ICD), or VT that keeps happening despite medication or shocks from an ICD
  • People who have read, understood, and signed the consent form for the study
  • People who are willing and available to follow all study procedures for the full duration of the trial

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are not able to give informed consent
  • People whose VT has no known underlying heart disease cause (called idiopathic VT)
  • People who have a blood clot that is moving around inside the left side of the heart
  • People who have had a heart attack or acute coronary event within the past 2 months — unless their VT has been ongoing continuously for at least 1 month before joining
  • People with another serious illness that is likely to shorten life expectancy to less than 12 months
  • People with the most severe stage of heart failure (classified as New York Heart Association Class IV)
  • People with significantly reduced kidney function, based on a specific blood test result (confirm with trial site)
  • People with low platelet counts or blood clotting problems
  • People who cannot receive the blood-thinning medication heparin
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People who have had open heart surgery within the past 2 months
  • People who currently have an active infection
  • People with signs of ongoing reduced blood supply to the heart, based on tests or imaging
  • People with severe disease of the heart's left-sided valves (aortic or mitral)
  • People with any heart condition present from birth
  • People who have had a catheter or surgical procedure to treat VT within the past 2 months
  • People who are expected to need a specific type of heart mapping procedure that accesses the outside of the heart (called epicardial ablation)
  • People without an existing ICD who would not be eligible to have one implanted
  • People who already have a mechanical heart pump device (such as an LVAD) implanted
  • People who have a mechanical artificial heart valve
  • People in a state of serious heart-related shock — unless that shock is being caused by ongoing, continuous VT
