Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 to 65 years old, of any gender
- People who are able to give their informed consent to participate
- People whose symptoms meet the criteria for normal, latent, or active temporomandibular myofascial pain (jaw and facial muscle pain — confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who cannot have an MRI scan, including those with severe obesity, difficulty lying flat, intracranial clips, metal implants, metallic devices or objects within 10mm of the head, a history of metal in the eyes (such as from welding), claustrophobia, or a cardiac pacemaker or pacing wires
- People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have had a traumatic injury to the jaw muscles or jaw joint in the last 12 months
- People who have had a jaw fracture in the last 12 months
- People who have started a new treatment for myofascial pain within the past month
- People who have received Botox injections in the masseter (jaw) muscle within the last 4 months
