Who may be able to join

  • People who feel their memory or thinking has gotten worse compared to before, but whose results on standard cognitive tests are still normal for their age, sex, and education — and where no medical condition, mental health issue, medication, or substance use explains the change, and daily life is not affected.
  • People who have a noticeable and lasting decline in memory or thinking (reported by themselves, a caregiver, or shown on repeated testing), whose test scores are lower than expected for their age, sex, and education, and who can still manage daily activities independently — though more complex tasks may be slightly harder; a score of 0.5 on a standard dementia rating scale is required.
  • People who are able to read, understand, and sign the consent form for the trial.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who are younger than 50 or older than 85 years of age.
  • People whose first language is not Italian.
  • People whose cognitive decline is caused by non-degenerative or secondary forms of dementia.
  • People who have previously taken part in, or are currently taking part in, a clinical trial involving anti-amyloid treatments.
