Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma, or HCC), either confirmed by a tissue sample or by clinical assessment
- Your liver cancer has stopped responding to a procedure called TACE (a treatment that delivers medicine directly to liver tumours through blood vessels), based on specific medical guidelines
- You are allowed to join if your liver cancer came back after surgery or a tumour-destroying procedure (such as ablation)
- You have at least one liver tumour that can be measured on scans
- Your liver is functioning at an acceptable level (Child-Pugh class A or B — confirm with trial site)
- You are generally well enough to carry out light daily activities (confirm with trial site)
- Your tumours take up less than 70% of your liver
- You have been assessed and confirmed as suitable for a treatment called SIRT (a type of internal radiation therapy), including a specific scan to check blood flow in your liver
- Your blood counts, liver function, kidney function, and other key body measurements meet the required levels (confirm with trial site for specific numbers)
- Doctors expect you to live for at least 3 more months
Who may not be able to join:
- Your cancer has spread to parts of the body outside the liver
- A blood clot from the tumour is blocking the main blood vessel supplying your liver (the main portal vein or both of its main branches)
- Your cancer has grown into the large vein that carries blood to the heart (the vena cava)
- You have previously received certain liver-directed chemotherapy (HAIC), radiotherapy, or systemic (whole-body) drug treatments for your liver cancer
- You have had an organ or cell transplant in the past
- You have a history of bleeding from swollen veins in your oesophagus (food pipe) or stomach
- You have a history of a condition called hepatic encephalopathy (where the liver cannot properly remove toxins, affecting brain function)
- You have been diagnosed with another type of cancer (other than liver cancer)
- You are living with HIV infection
