Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are female
- People who have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) according to standard 2010 classification guidelines
- People who have had rheumatoid arthritis for 2 years or less (considered "early" RA)
- People currently being treated with certain standard disease-modifying medications, such as methotrexate, hydroxychloroquine, leflunomide, sulfasalazine, or a combination of these
- People whose rheumatoid arthritis is not well controlled, based on a disease activity score of 3.2 or higher on the DAS28 scale (a standard measure used by doctors)
- People whose daily intake of Vitamin E is low (less than 15mg per day)
- People who do not have other significant health conditions alongside their RA
- People aged 18 years or older
- People who agree to take part willingly and sign an informed consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have liver or kidney disease
- People who have a condition where two or more autoimmune diseases overlap (confirm with trial site)
- People who have a blood clotting disorder
- People who are currently pregnant
- People who have taken certain supplements or medications in the last three months, including iron, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), amlodipine, estrogen, steroids (glucocorticoids), or cholesterol-lowering drugs
Reasons a person may be removed from the trial after joining:
- Errors in how the study supplement is given
- Experiencing side effects from the study supplement
- Becoming pregnant during the study
- Being unable to provide a sufficient blood sample
- Choosing to withdraw consent to participate
