Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Be between 4 years and 9 years 11 months old
  • Have a permanent hearing loss that was present before learning to speak, caused by a problem in the inner ear or hearing nerve
  • Use spoken English as their main language at home (more than half of the time)
  • Score at least 70 on a nonverbal thinking skills test called the Leiter

  • Have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder
  • Have a diagnosis of ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder)
  • Have a vision problem that has not been corrected with glasses or contact lenses
