Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People whose liver tumour is located only in the right side of the liver and has been confirmed as hepatocellular carcinoma (a specific type of liver cancer) through laboratory tissue analysis
- People who are scheduled for a planned, non-emergency surgical procedure
- People whose liver function has been assessed as a certain level of health (Child Pugh grade A or B) and whose overall fitness for surgery has been rated at an acceptable level (ASA rating I, II, or III) before the operation
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose tissue analysis has confirmed a different type of cancer, such as bile duct cancer, mixed cell cancer, or cancer that has spread to the liver from another part of the body
- People who have previously had surgery on the upper abdomen
- People who require removal of nearby abdominal organs (other than the gallbladder) or major reconstruction of blood vessels or bile ducts at the same time as the liver surgery
- People whose cancer has grown into nearby organs (other than the gallbladder), or where cancer has been found in major blood vessels, bile ducts, or has spread to distant parts of the body
- People for whom follow-up contact cannot be maintained, or whose medical records are incomplete
