- You became deaf or lost significant hearing after you had already learned to speak and understand language (not deaf from birth or early childhood)

- You are a new cochlear implant recipient using a device made by Cochlear Americas, and you have been identified before your device is switched on for the first time
- You are able to complete follow-up tasks, such as repeating words or sentences, responding when you hear a sound, and filling out questionnaires

- You have chosen a cochlear implant made by a different manufacturer (other than Cochlear Americas)
- You were deaf from birth or lost your hearing before you learned to speak and understand language
- You have multiple disabilities (confirm with trial site)
- You are not able to complete follow-up tasks such as repeating words or sentences, responding when you hear a sound, or filling out questionnaires
- You do not speak English
- You are under the age of 18
