Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • You have an implanted defibrillator device (ICD) that was placed to prevent a first serious heart event, due to heart failure with reduced pumping ability, and your device can be monitored remotely
  • You are currently taking a heart medication called metoprolol succinate and are willing to switch to a different heart medication called carvedilol
  • A heart scan in the last 12 months has shown that your heart's pumping function is below 50%

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are unwilling or unable to follow the study requirements and schedule
  • You are currently taking a different beta-blocker heart medication other than metoprolol succinate, or you are not taking any beta-blocker medication at all
  • You have had a bad reaction to carvedilol in the past, or there is a medical reason why you cannot take it
  • Your blood pressure is too low (the lower number on a blood pressure reading is below 100) (confirm with trial site)
  • You are already taking part in another clinical trial
  • You are unable or unwilling to give your formal agreement to participate in the study
