Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults over 18 years of age
- People who have had a certain type of heart attack (called STEMI) and are being sent for an urgent procedure to look at the heart's arteries
- People whose heart artery is found to be completely or almost completely blocked by a blood clot during that procedure
- People for whom the medical team has determined that a clot-removal procedure (using suction to clear the blockage) is clinically appropriate
- People who are able to understand and agree to take part in the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People for whom a procedure to open blocked heart arteries (known as percutaneous coronary intervention, or PCI) is not medically safe or appropriate
- People who are in a state of severe cardiovascular collapse or shock at the time of the procedure
- People with advanced, end-stage kidney failure
- People who, due to a serious non-heart-related illness, are not expected to survive beyond one year
