Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children and teenagers between 8 and 18 years old who are being seen as outpatients (not currently admitted to hospital) at the time of joining the study.
- People with a chest measurement of at least 69.85 cm around the chest, measured just below the chest muscles.
- People who are at risk of heart failure or have been diagnosed with heart failure at certain stages (American Heart Association Stage B, C, or D), regardless of whether they are taking heart failure medications.
- People whose heart failure is caused by a range of conditions, including heart defects present from birth, cardiomyopathy (various types), a history of heart muscle inflammation, muscular disorders, certain metabolic or mitochondrial conditions, treatment-related causes (such as chemotherapy), infection or rheumatic conditions, Kawasaki disease, or specific structural heart conditions (confirm with trial site for exact diagnosis eligibility).
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had surgery within the past 3 months.
- People who are currently using a mechanical heart pump (ventricular assist device) at the time of joining.
- People who are unable to use technology due to a physical or cognitive difficulty, including cases where the caregiver also faces this difficulty.
- People who do not speak English.
- People who have an implanted heart defibrillator or pacemaker.
- People whose chest size falls outside the range that fits the available sizes of the wearable device used in the study.
