Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You have had trouble sleeping at least 3 nights per week for at least 3 months, diagnosed as chronic insomnia
- Your main sleep problem is difficulty falling asleep, and it typically takes you more than 20 minutes to fall asleep
- Your score on the Insomnia Severity Index is 15 or higher (the trial site can help you determine this)
- You can speak and understand English
- You own a smartphone or tablet that can have a mobile app installed on it
Who may not be able to join:
- You have been diagnosed with another sleep disorder (such as narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, or REM sleep behavior disorder) in addition to insomnia
- You work shift work or regularly work night shifts
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You regularly practice mind-body activities such as meditation or yoga two or more times per week
- You have a pacemaker or regularly take heart medications that affect your heart rate, such as beta-blockers
- You have a neurological condition (such as epilepsy, dementia, stroke, or Parkinson's disease) or a current diagnosis of a psychotic disorder, substance use disorder, or trauma-related disorder
- You are currently taking medications that affect sleep, such as sleeping pills, benzodiazepines, or certain antidepressants (confirm with trial site)
- You have hearing loss or impairment
