Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 75 years, of any sex
- People with colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver (either at the same time as the original diagnosis or later), where the original bowel tumour has already been fully removed, and who have been assessed as suitable for liver surgery or liver transplant
- People with a type of liver cancer called HCC (hepatocellular carcinoma), where the liver tumour can either be surgically removed or not, and who are scheduled for liver surgery or a liver transplant
- People with no history of any other type of cancer
- People with colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver who have tested negative for certain viral infections (confirm with trial site for which viruses are tested)
- People with colorectal cancer spread to the liver who have already had any type of liver surgery (including staged procedures, ALPPS, or surgery on multiple sites)
- People who have had, or are having, chemotherapy before surgery, as long as it fits with the planned follow-up treatment after surgery
Who may not be able to join:
- People younger than 18 or older than 75
- People who are pregnant
- People whose cancer has spread to areas outside the liver, as seen on scans
- People with metabolic conditions, autoimmune diseases, or those on long-term medication that suppresses the immune system — unless they are liver transplant patients being treated for HCC
- People who test positive for certain viral infections, unless they have HCC (confirm with trial site for which viruses apply)
- People with a history of any other cancer
- People on long-term steroid treatment or with a currently active autoimmune disease
- People who have previously had radiotherapy
- People who are currently taking part in any other clinical trial, whether for cancer or another condition
- People who are legally unable to make decisions for themselves
