Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver only, or who have a small amount of spread to the lungs in addition to the liver
- People who are currently receiving a first course of chemotherapy that includes a drug called 5-FU combined with either oxaliplatin or irinotecan, or who are within 3 months of starting this type of chemotherapy, or who finished chemotherapy within 1 month of being assessed for this trial
- People who have previously had other treatments directed at the liver, such as ablation (using heat or cold to destroy tumours) or embolization (blocking blood supply to tumours)
- People who have multiple liver metastases that cannot be completely removed or destroyed through surgery or ablation
- People aged 18 years or older
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer in the liver is considered removable through surgery
- People whose cancer has spread to areas outside the liver and lungs, such as the bones or the lining of the abdomen
- People who are unable to safely undergo general anaesthesia
- People who have a severe form of liver scarring known as Child's C cirrhosis
- People who have had another cancer (other than skin cancer) within the past 2 years
- People whose white blood cell count is below a certain level, indicating a weakened immune system (confirm with trial site for exact values)
- People whose neutrophil count (a type of immune cell) is below a certain level (confirm with trial site for exact values)
- People who have a serious non-cancer illness that could increase the risk of the procedure used in this trial
- People whose cancer has a specific genetic characteristic called MSI-High
- People under 18 years of age
- People who are pregnant
