Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 to 75 years old
  • People in generally good health, able to carry out normal daily activities with little or no limitation (as measured by a standard health performance scale)
  • People whose liver cancer falls into one of the following categories based on the China Liver Cancer Staging system: a single tumour larger than 5 cm; two to three tumours with the largest being more than 3 cm; four or more tumours of any size; or any tumour size where the cancer has grown into nearby blood vessels but has not spread outside the liver — all without the cancer having spread to other parts of the body, and with reasonably preserved liver function
  • People who have not previously received any treatment for their liver cancer
  • People whose tumour is expected to be fully removable by surgery
  • People who provide written consent after being fully informed about the study

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with serious problems affecting the heart, brain, lungs, kidneys, or other major organs, serious active infection, or other significant health conditions that would make it hard to tolerate treatment
  • People who have had another type of cancer in the past
  • People with a known allergy to the drugs used in this trial
  • People who have had an organ transplant
  • People who have previously received any treatment for their tumour, including interferon
  • People living with HIV
  • People with a history of drug or substance misuse
  • People who had a gastrointestinal bleed or a heart or stroke-related event in the approximately 30 days before starting treatment
  • Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or of childbearing age who are unwilling to use contraception
  • People with a mental health condition that would prevent them from giving informed consent or from participating in treatment
  • People who the trial doctor believes may have other factors affecting their participation or the reliability of the trial results (confirm with trial site)
