Who might be able to join this trial:

This trial has two main groups for patients, plus a group for healthcare professionals. The criteria for each are listed below.

Part 1 – People with a recent brain injury:

• People aged 18 to 60 years old
• People who have come to the Emergency Department within 24 hours of a head injury
• People who have been medically diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) of any level of severity
• People who had their level of consciousness recorded by medical staff when they arrived at hospital
• People who are able to give their own agreement to take part in the study
• People who are able to wear a wrist activity tracker at home for two weeks, within 12 weeks of their injury

Part 2 – People with a brain injury from more than 12 months ago:

• People aged 18 to 60 years old
• People who have been medically diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) of any level of severity
• People who had their level of consciousness recorded in their medical notes
• People who are able to give their own agreement to take part in the study
• People whose brain injury happened more than 12 months ago
• People who are able to wear a wrist activity tracker at home for two weeks

Part 2 – Healthcare professionals:

• Registered healthcare professionals working at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust
• Healthcare professionals who have experience delivering rehabilitation to brain injury patients who have been recruited to this study

Who may not be able to join:

For both patient groups (Parts 1 and 2):

• People who are unable to understand what the study involves or cannot give their own agreement to take part
• People who have another diagnosed neurological condition, such as stroke, brain tumour, epilepsy, motor neuron disease, Parkinson's disease, or spinal cord injury (this list may not be exhaustive — confirm with trial site)
• People whose brain injury has not been formally defined or graded by a medical professional, or where the time since injury is unknown
• People who have a diagnosed or self-reported sleep disorder, or where one is noted in their medical records
• People who work night shifts as a regular part of their job
• People who cannot be contacted by phone, letter, or email

For healthcare professionals (Part 2):

• People who cannot be contacted by phone, letter, or email
• People who are unable to understand what the study involves or cannot give their own agreement to take part
