Who may and may not be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who may be able to join

  • People who are 55 years of age or older.
  • People who are able to walk without using a walking aid such as a cane, walker, or crutches (this is assessed by completing a specific walking test without any assistive device).
  • People who are able to understand and agree to take part in the study, or who have a legally authorised representative who can do this on their behalf.
  • People who are able to put on and take off the study insole and leg device on their own, or with the help of someone else, for the whole duration of the study.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who do not speak English.
  • People who use an ankle-foot brace for walking that would prevent the study device from being worn.
  • People who have reported a current acute blood clot condition, including deep vein thrombosis (a blood clot in a deep vein).
  • People who have untreated fluid build-up in the limbs (lymphedema) or any untreated wound, sore, swelling, infection, or skin irritation on or near the foot and ankle where the device would be worn.
  • People who have untreated broken bones in the foot or ankle.
  • People who have another significant medical condition that the study investigators determine may affect their ability to take part in or complete the study (confirm with trial site).
