Who may be able to join
- People who are older than 19 years of age.
- People who have been diagnosed with breast cancer (confirmed through a tissue sample) that has spread to other parts of the body or has advanced locally in a way that cannot be treated with surgery, with or without measurable tumours.
- People whose breast cancer was already at an advanced/spread stage when first diagnosed, or whose cancer has spread to distant parts of the body after surgery intended to cure it.
- People whose breast cancer tests show a specific protein level — either "HER2-positive" (high levels of HER2) or "HER2-low" (lower but detectable levels of HER2) — as determined by standard laboratory testing guidelines.
- People whose general health and ability to carry out daily activities falls within an acceptable range (rated 0–2 on a standard medical scale, meaning able to care for themselves even if not always able to do heavy physical activity) (confirm with trial site).
- People who are about to start their first round of a treatment called T-DXd (trastuzumab deruxtecan).
- People who are scheduled to receive a medication called netupitant/palonosetron (NEPA) to help prevent nausea and vomiting caused by their cancer treatment, in line with its approved use.
- People who agree to use a highly effective method of contraception or who cannot become pregnant. Accepted methods include: complete abstinence from sex (as a consistent lifestyle choice, not periodic); surgical removal of the uterus and cervix, or having the fallopian tubes tied at least six weeks before starting the study treatment; a male partner who has had a vasectomy at least six months before the screening visit (and is the only partner); or a combination of an intrauterine device (IUD/IUS) together with a barrier method such as a condom or diaphragm used with spermicide.
- People who have given written consent to take part in the trial.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who experienced nausea or vomiting in the seven days before their first planned dose of T-DXd.
- People who have cancer that has spread to the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, or to the brain itself.
- People who have had an allergic reaction to any ingredient in T-DXd or NEPA, or to a class of anti-nausea drugs known as 5-HT3 receptor antagonists.
- People who are pregnant, suspected to be pregnant, or who are currently breastfeeding.
- People who have any other illness or condition that the trial doctor believes could put them at unacceptable risk if they were to receive T-DXd or NEPA.
- People who need to take certain other medications that may interfere with the trial treatments — including steroids, anti-nausea drugs, benzodiazepines, antipsychotics, or specific named medicines such as pimozide, terfenadine, astemizole, cisapride, rifampin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, ketoconazole, itraconazole, nefazodone, troleandomycin, clarithromycin, fluvoxamine, certain antidepressants (SSRIs/SNRIs), ritonavir, or nelfinavir (confirm the full list with the trial site).

Trial details
This date has passed while the registry still lists the trial as open to participants. Sponsors often update a trial's status without revising its projected end date, so it may well still be recruiting — but the record is out of date in at least one respect. Check with the study contact before relying on either.
