Who might be able to join this trial:
- You must be 18 years of age or older when you enter the study
- You have been diagnosed with liver cancer (HCC) that is at an advanced stage, or at an intermediate stage that cannot be treated with surgery or local treatments
- Your liver cancer has been confirmed by a scan, biopsy, or cell sample analysis
- You have not previously received any systemic (whole-body) drug treatment for your liver cancer
- You have at least one area of cancer that can be measured on a CT or MRI scan
- Your liver is functioning at a moderate level or better (based on a scoring system called Child-Pugh, scores 5–7), and you are able to carry out basic daily activities (confirm with trial site)
- Your blood counts, liver values, and kidney function meet certain minimum levels as measured by blood tests (confirm with trial site for exact numbers)
- You are willing to provide a tumor tissue sample (either stored from a previous biopsy or a new one) and blood samples
- You have read and signed a form agreeing to take part in the study
Who may not be able to join:
- You have already received systemic (whole-body) drug treatment for your liver cancer
- You have an autoimmune disease (where your immune system attacks your own body) that requires medication to suppress your immune system
- You currently have an active infection that requires antibiotic treatment given through a drip (IV)
- You are HIV-positive, or you have an active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection at certain measurable levels (confirm with trial site)
- You have brain or spinal cord metastases (cancer that has spread to the brain/spine) that are causing symptoms
- You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- You have any other condition that the trial doctor believes would make it difficult for you to follow the study plan or for the results to be properly assessed (confirm with trial site)
