- People who speak English
- People who have been identified as having Insomnia Disorder based on standard diagnostic criteria (DSM-5), first through a screening process and then confirmed in a brief clinical interview
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have sleep disorders other than Insomnia Disorder
- People who have a hormone-related (endocrine) condition
- People who work shifts or keep an extreme or highly irregular sleep schedule
- People who are currently taking medication to help with sleep
- People who are currently taking medication for a hormone-related (endocrine) condition
- People who are currently taking any medication that may affect sleep or cortisol (a stress hormone) levels
- People who use alcohol or substances heavily, or who have been diagnosed with an alcohol or substance use disorder
- People who have a serious mental illness
- People who have ongoing (chronic) medical conditions that could be made worse by restricting sleep
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- People who are in the peri-menopausal stage, due to irregular periods and changing hormone levels at that life stage
