Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who test positive for the Hepatitis B surface antigen (a marker showing Hepatitis B infection) AND who also meet at least one of the following conditions:
- Imaging scans (ultrasound, CT, or MRI) show signs of liver cirrhosis (scarring of the liver)
- A diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes
- A family history of liver cirrhosis or liver cancer
- A history of long-term alcohol use for more than 5 years, at levels of 40g or more of alcohol per day for males, or 20g or more per day for females
- A liver biopsy result showing a fibrosis (scarring) score of F3 or higher on the Metavir scale (confirm with trial site)
- A liver stiffness measurement of 8.0 kPa or higher on a FibroScan test
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been diagnosed with any form of cancer
- People who have previously had a liver transplant
- People living with HIV
- People whose expected survival time is less than one year
- People who have significant loss of function in major organs such as the heart, brain, kidneys, lungs, or endocrine system, or who have a blood disorder, or who have been diagnosed with a psychiatric condition
