Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have had tinnitus (ringing or noise in the ears) for more than six months, with or without hearing loss
  • People whose tinnitus has no physical structural cause found in the ear or surrounding bone area
  • People who are either not currently receiving any treatment for tinnitus (including medications or traditional Chinese medicine), or who stopped any such treatment more than three months ago
  • People who are mentally alert, emotionally stable, and able to clearly answer questions from the medical and research team

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a physical structural problem in the ear or surrounding bone, such as a hole in the eardrum or damage to the tiny bones inside the ear
  • People who have other ear conditions, such as Meniere's disease, dizziness disorders, chronic ear infections, a type of ear cyst called cholesteatoma, or inner/outer ear inflammation
  • People with a history of head injury or conditions affecting the brain or nervous system
  • People who have been exposed to medications known to damage hearing
  • People who are currently using, or have used within the last three months, any tinnitus medications or traditional Chinese medicine treatments
  • People who are unable to cooperate with medical procedures or answer questions from the research team
  • People who have previously dropped out of a study or could not be contacted within a three-month period
