Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are able to give written consent in English or Spanish
- People who are living in specific areas: Western Connecticut; Dallas or Tarrant Counties in Texas; or Madison County, Kentucky (possibly Fayette County as well — confirm with trial site)
- People who have had some involvement with the justice system in the past 12 months, such as time in prison, jail, or being on community supervision (e.g. parole or probation)
- People who are willing to have an HIV test to find out whether they are HIV-positive or HIV-negative
- People who are living with HIV and have not been taking HIV treatment (ART) in the past 6 months, OR people who test HIV-negative and have not been taking HIV prevention medication (PrEP) in the past 12 months, and where a doctor would consider PrEP appropriate — for example, people who have had sex without a condom, shared drug injection equipment with someone who is HIV-positive or of unknown status, or had a bacterial sexually transmitted infection
- People who have used opioids and/or stimulants (such as methamphetamine or cocaine) in the past 12 months while living in the community
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a serious medical or psychiatric condition that could make taking part in the trial unsafe
- People who are not able to give informed consent
- People who report that they are currently pregnant
