Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 19 years of age or older
- You have been diagnosed with amyloid cardiomyopathy (a heart condition caused by abnormal protein deposits), confirmed by a heart tissue sample or special imaging tests
- You have heart failure symptoms that are moderate — meaning you feel fine at rest but have symptoms like shortness of breath or tiredness during everyday activities or mild exertion
- You have been taking a stable dose of water pills (diuretics) by mouth for at least 2 weeks, with no major dose changes during that time
- You are able to walk and move around on your own
- You are able and willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the study
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You currently have an active infection
- You have had a heart attack or stroke in the past 6 months
- You are scheduled to have certain heart procedures, such as bypass surgery, a specific type of heart device implanted, a procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat, or heart valve surgery
- You have previously had a heart transplant
- Your kidneys are not working well enough (confirm with trial site)
- You have been diagnosed with cancer in the past 5 years (some exceptions may apply — confirm with trial site)
- Your heart failure is mainly caused by severe valve disease or blocked heart arteries (unless the valve problem has already been surgically corrected)
- You have Type 1 diabetes or require insulin to manage your diabetes
- You have a history of a dangerous buildup of acids in the blood (ketoacidosis), complicated urinary or genital infections, or kidney stones
- Your blood pressure is very low or you experience dizziness or fainting due to low blood pressure
- You have had major surgery within the past 90 days
- You have a known allergy or sensitivity to the study drug or any of its ingredients
- You have moderate to severe liver disease
- You have a history of ongoing heavy alcohol use or substance abuse
- You currently live in a nursing home or similar long-term care facility
- You are unable or unlikely to follow the study instructions, attend appointments, or complete the study, in the opinion of the research team
