Who might be able to join this trial:

• You must be 18 years of age or older.
• You must not be planning any changes to your medications or treatments in the next 3 months.
• You must be willing and able to have an MRI scan.
• You must not feel afraid of enclosed spaces (claustrophobia).
• You must be alert, aware of your surroundings, and able to give your consent to take part.
• You must be able to speak and read English.

For people with chronic widespread pain/fibromyalgia only:

• You must score at a certain level on standard fibromyalgia questionnaires that measure how widespread your pain is and how severely it affects you (confirm with trial site).
• Your pain must have been present for at least 3 months.
• Your pain must affect at least 4 out of 5 areas of the body.
• Your average pain level over the past month must be at least 4 out of 10.

For people with a specific eye condition called Congenital Stationary Night Blindness only:

• 2 participants who have been diagnosed with this inherited night vision condition and do not have chronic widespread pain are also being recruited.

Who may not be able to join:

• You have a condition that affects your retina or causes vision impairment.
• You experience sensitivity to light or discomfort around light (for example, as seen in some autoimmune conditions like lupus).
• You have uveitis, cataracts, colour blindness, or a history of seizures.
• You are planning any changes to pain treatments in the next 3 months, such as surgery, new medications, injections, or other pain procedures.
• You are currently imprisoned.
• You are pregnant.
• You have anything in or on your body that makes an MRI unsafe, such as certain metal implants or medical devices that are not MRI-compatible.
