Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are willing to take part and have given your written agreement before any screening tests begin
- You are at least 18 years old
- You have been diagnosed with heart failure where the heart's pumping strength is relatively preserved (sometimes called HFpEF), confirmed by specific heart tests and scoring systems (confirm with trial site for which scoring method applies to you)
- You have a specific type of pacemaker (called a DDD pacemaker with LBB area pacing) that was implanted at least 12 weeks before a particular exercise test used in this study

- Your heart is in a normal, steady rhythm (called sinus rhythm) at the time of your screening appointment and exercise test
Who may not be able to join:
- You have significant lung disease, shown by breathing tests or lung scans
- You have a serious heart valve problem that causes symptoms
- You have severe high blood pressure in the lungs (confirm with trial site)
- You have dangerous or unstable irregular heart rhythms
- You have fainted repeatedly since having your pacemaker fitted
- You have a permanent form of irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation
- You have a heart condition caused by abnormal protein build-up (amyloid cardiomyopathy)
- You are physically unable to do exercise
- You have been hospitalised for heart failure more than once in the past year
- Your resting heart rate is above 100 beats per minute
- At the time of the study tests, your heart failure is currently unstable or you have an unstable heart/chest condition
- You have a medical reason why a line cannot safely be placed into a large vein in your neck — for example, a serious blood clotting problem, a local skin infection, a blocked vein, or a lung problem on the opposite side (confirm with trial site)
- You have a medical reason why a line cannot safely be placed into an artery — for example, a blocked artery, a condition causing blood vessel spasms, an infection at the site, a serious clotting disorder, or poor blood flow in the hand (confirm with trial site)
- You have a medical reason why you cannot safely do a supervised exercise test — for example, dangerous heart rhythm signs on an ECG, very low or very high blood pressure, fainting or dizziness, low blood oxygen levels, or dangerously high pressure in the heart during exercise (confirm with trial site)
