Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older
- People who have signs and symptoms of heart failure
- People who fall into one of two heart conditions: (1) those with a preserved pumping function of the heart (at least 50%), along with evidence of the heart not relaxing properly, elevated heart-related markers in the blood, and a diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (a thickened heart muscle) confirmed by imaging and genetic testing showing a sarcomere gene mutation; OR (2) those with a reduced pumping function of the heart (40% or less), along with an enlarged heart confirmed by imaging that is not fully explained by other causes
- People who have had a heart ultrasound (echocardiogram) within the past 3 months
- People who have had a cardiac MRI scan within the past 3 months
- People who have had a coronary angiogram or CT coronary angiogram within the past 6 months showing normal coronary arteries
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to give informed consent to participate
- People who are unable to lie flat on their back
- People whose heart or blood pressure is currently unstable
- People who experience claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces)
- People with significantly reduced kidney function (confirm with trial site)
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have had a cancer diagnosis within the past 5 years
- People with significant disease affecting the heart valves
- People with significant narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries
- People with moderately or severely high blood pressure (Grade 2 or 3 hypertension)
- People who have an implanted heart device, such as a pacemaker or defibrillator
- People who have been hospitalised for heart failure within the past 30 days
