Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma/HCC) based on specific imaging scans (CT or MRI) showing a liver nodule larger than 1cm with particular patterns, and you have either liver scarring (cirrhosis) or chronic hepatitis B infection
- Your liver tumor(s) are between 5 and 25 cm in size, or you have 3 or fewer tumors, or there is involvement of a branch of the main blood vessel feeding the liver (confirm with trial site)
- You are between 18 and 80 years old
- Your liver is functioning at a certain level, rated as Child-Pugh class A or B7 (a score doctors use to measure liver health — confirm with trial site)
- You are able to carry out normal daily activities with little or no limitation, rated 0 or 1 on a standard activity scale used by doctors
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had, or currently have, another type of cancer that has spread into surrounding tissue
- You have previously had radiation treatment to your liver area, including a specific internal radiation therapy
- You have a serious, currently active other illness or health condition
- Your cancer has spread to areas outside the liver
- You have a blood clot or tumor involvement in the main portal vein (a major blood vessel to the liver) or the large vein that carries blood to the heart
- You currently have a build-up of fluid in your abdomen (ascites) or confusion related to liver disease (encephalopathy)
- Your situation does not meet the specific requirements for the radiation treatment used in this trial, including: any single liver tumor larger than 15 cm, all tumors added together measuring more than 25 cm, more than 3 separate liver tumors, or the tumor is growing directly into nearby digestive organs or major bile ducts
